The 68th independence celebration was marked on Thursday 6th March, 2025 which took place at the fore court
of the Assembly. The ceremonial parade mark the occasion under the theme reflect, review and reset.
The event witnessed the presence of key figures including the Member of Parliament, Honorable Kwabena Boateng; Presiding Member, Honorable Helena Mensah;
Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Peter Kwesi Wilson; Assembly Members, heads of departments, security personnel, and contingents
from some selected schools. The Municipal Coordinating Director, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, emphasizing the crucial role they play in shaping the minds and hearts of the next generation.
He stressed the importance of instilling values such as tolerance, respect, hard work, and empathy in pupils, while also equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to become active and responsible citizens.
The MP for Ejisu Constituency, Hon. Kwabena Boateng, advised students to focus on their studies, work hard to complete their education and avoid any form of indiscipline that could ruin their future. He urged them to become responsible citizens and contribute to the nation’s development.
This year’s celebration did not take on a spectacular form that we have been used to over the years. There was a scaled-down commemoration at the forecourt of the Assembly. The decision was, taken by the President of the Republic of Ghana His Excellency John Dramani Mahama aimed at reducing costs and prioritizing government expenditure amid economic challenges.
